Former Hearts of Oak captain, Amankwa Mireku, has shared his thoughts ahead of the much-anticipated Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, describing the game as “not just a normal match.”
Speaking in an interview, Mireku said several factors have affected the intensity and passion surrounding the fixture in recent times.
“There are a lot of things that have affected the Super Clash. The players don’t even know what they are doing,” he lamented. “Hearts and Kotoko is not an ordinary game it comes with pride, emotion, and tradition.”
The former skipper revealed that during his playing days, preparations for the Super Clash were intense, influencing even players’ routines and lifestyles.
“The Super Clash normally changes your diet and movement a week before the game. You prepare differently because the whole nation watches that match,” he explained.
Despite the challenges, Mireku believes Hearts of Oak still have a slight edge over their arch-rivals.
“Hearts have the upper hand over Kotoko, and I think Hearts can win by a goal difference,” he predicted.
The Super Clash between the two Ghanaian giants remains one of the most anticipated fixtures on the local football calendar, drawing passion and rivalry unmatched in Ghanaian football.
