The Central North Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a violent armed robbery attack on a gold buyer and a farmer at Assin Ntow-Krom in the Assin North District.
The suspects Godwin Kwabena Mensah, 28, Kwadwo Frimpong, 20, and Kwabena Antwi, 30 allegedly stormed the victims’ residence at around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, armed with a pump-action gun and machetes.
The victims, identified as Kwabena Amos, 37, a gold buyer, and Richard Kumah, 33, a farmer, sustained serious injuries during the attack. Mr. Amos reportedly suffered a deep machete wound and severe facial injuries.
The arrests were made following credible intelligence and swift action by the police. Officers recovered two pump-action guns, a sharpened machete, nine spent cartridges, and a talisman believed to have been used by the suspects for spiritual protection.
A coordinated police response, including alerts sent to checkpoints across the region, led to the successful capture of the suspects.
The Central North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Abraham Acquaye, commended the patrol team for their bravery and professionalism. He warned that criminal elements in the region will be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice.
“We remain committed to fighting armed robbery and ensuring the safety and security of residents,” he stated.
Police say efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional suspects believed to be connected to the incident.
