Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has endorsed the upcoming National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, scheduled for July 1, 2025, emphasizing the importance of anchoring governance in humanity, unity, and inclusiveness.
He made the remarks during a courtesy call by the event’s Planning Committee at his Peduase residence on Friday, May 30.
The former President commended President John Mahama for initiating the event and described Republic Day as a significant national milestone.
“The Republic Day was when Ghana gave itself its first president, and it is a day that is not supposed to be overlooked. So if President Mahama has thought in his faith not only to use the day as the day Ghana became a republic country but to give thanks to God and ask for deepened prosperity, then I say he thought it right, and I agree with him. So we look forward to that and celebrate it,” he said.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, expressed appreciation for the former President’s support.
“President Kufuor gave us a warm and cordial reception. He endorsed the idea and promised that, if available, he would attend the event.”
