A 22-year-old taxi driver, Raphael Agyiri, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor by the Tarkwa Circuit Court for defiling a 15-year-old girl in a bush.
Agyiri pretended to be a stream god to instill fear in the victim and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
The court heard that on June 2, 2022, Agyiri met the victim in a bush and claimed to be the stream god, warning her that she would die if she didn’t have sex with him.
The victim was frightened and cried out for help, but no one came.
Agyiri then dragged her to a nearby bush and committed the crime.
After being found guilty, Agyiri was sentenced to 15 years in prison and ordered to pay GH¢10,000 in compensation to the victim.
The court’s decision aims to serve justice and provide some relief to the victim and her family.
