Presidential appointees and staffers are facing potential removal from office after failing to comply with President John Mahama’s directive to declare their assets by the extended deadline of 31 March 2025.
The President’s warning, first issued in February 2025, made clear that any appointee who failed to meet the asset declaration deadline would face serious sanctions, including possible dismissal.
According to documents released, a number of high-profile figures within the Mahama administration have yet to submit their asset declaration forms. These include:
- Nathan Kofi Boakye – Director of Operations at the Presidency
- Seth Emmanuel Terkper – Presidential Adviser on the Economy
- Larry Gbevlo-Lartey – Special Envoy to the Alliance of Sahelian States
- Nana Yaa Jantuah – Presidential Staffer
- Charles Kipo – Director-General, National Investigations Bureau
- Dr. Peter Boamah Otukunor – Director of Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness
- Samuel Ofosu Ampofo – Policy Adviser, Political
- Kofi Okyere Darko – Presidential Adviser on Diaspora Affairs
President Mahama issued the directive after submitting his own asset declaration form to the Auditor-General, stressing that transparency and accountability are non-negotiable in public service.
He urged all appointees to fulfill their legal obligations without delay, emphasizing that asset declaration is a critical tool in the fight against corruption.
The failure of these individuals to comply with the extended deadline raises serious concerns about their commitment to those principles.
It remains to be seen whether President Mahama will follow through on his threat to remove non-compliant officials from office.
