Traders and buyers at the Dunkwa On-Offin market in the Central Region shared their concerns about Ghana’s economy during a vox pop session with Denkyiraman News.
Although inflation has slightly decreased to 22.4% in March, some traders expressed frustration over price hikes, particularly for vegetables like tomatoes and onions, which have increased due to the end of the season.
While some attributed the challenges to seasonal factors, others criticized the current government, claiming that the previous administration had left a stable economy, but the NDC has mismanaged it.
Some buyers and traders were pessimistic about any government’s ability to salvage the economy, believing that they have already compromised measures to prevent economic crises.
As one buyer emphatically stated, “Let no government deceive you that their policies will save the country… we’re old enough to know they’ve destroyed the country, and if we vote again, we’ll vote wisely”.
This sentiment reflects the widespread dissatisfaction and skepticism among Ghanaians regarding the government’s ability to address economic challenges.
