The Municipal Ambulance Director for the Upper Denkyira East municipality, Mr. Charles Kwaku Dawson has noted the importance of the National Ambulance in every district of the Country.

He stated that the Ambulance is situated at its post for emergency purposes,
” The Ambulance is solely meant to carry sick people with emergency cases and needs a referral or even pregnant women with critical cases”, he explained.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday, 28th January 2019, commissioned and presented three hundred and seven (307) new, state-of-the-art ambulances to the National Ambulance Service, in fulfilment of his 2016 campaign pledge.

The 307 ambulances were fitted with advanced life support equipment and tracking devices, which were distributed to 275 constituencies, i.e. 1-Constituency-1-Ambulance, to be managed by the National Ambulance Service, and the remainder of thirty-two (32) ambulances to the headquarters of the Service.”

Mr. Charles Dawson continued that the Ambulance doesn’t carry corpses as presumed, but instead, the job of the hearse is to carry dead bodies.

Mr Dawson also advised drivers to adopt the habit of paving the way for the Ambulance to pass when the need arises.

He added that in many cases, some drivers and sometimes pedestrians intentionally block the ways of the Ambulance, with the mindset of the drivers trying to avoid traffic.

“The Ambulance only blows the siren to show that there’s an emergency at hand and not for fun. Therefore drivers should pay attention to that and always make sure of a smooth passage for the National Ambulance”, he said.
