Desist from sexual activities and romantic pleasures at the workplace. – Hon. Festus Awuah Kwoffie

Deputy Minister for Employment and Labor Relations designate and Member of Parliament for the Upper Denkyira East Constituency Hon. Doc. Festus Awuah Kwoffie was before Parliament’s vetting committee on Tuesday, 12th March 2024.

The honorable member was appointed by the President for the new office during his reshuffle in Parliament on 14th February 2024.

Hon. Dr. Awuah was vetted on the country’s Economy, the Youth Employment Agency initiative, Works and Sexual Harassment Issues in the country.

The Lawmaker, Hon. Festus said sexual harassment has become a psychological problem in the Sector which has to be addressed.
“The employer and employee should desist from sexual activities and any kind of romantic pleasures at the workplace”, he stated.

Answering questions on the Youth Employment Agency initiative and it impact on the youth and the country so far, he said though YEA has recruited many young women and men in the country since 2015, the sector still has more work to do and he’d put in efforts to help his colleagues and his ministry to do what they can.

“ The only Opportunity available to the Ghanaian worker is to have a union formed and approach the Ministry for the certificate so they can fight and protect the interests of the workers” he added

On the cases of employees with low minimum wages and salaries have been captured and employers who fall culprits will be dealt with, as he gets the support from the substantial Minister.

Hon. Festus Awuah Kwoffie before the vetting committee explained that the COVID-19 pandemic had a diverse challenge on the global economy and so had affected employment too.

BACKGROUND
Hon. Festus Awuah Kwoffie is done with his vetting today and awaits the Committee’s approval to proceed with his aims and aspirations as the Deputy Minister for Employment and Labor Relations.
