The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has disclosed that the fire tender serving the Upper Denkyira East Municipality is currently out of commission due to a mechanical fault.
The development could affect emergency response to fire outbreaks in the Municipality, particularly in situations requiring the immediate deployment of firefighting equipment.
Assistant Divisional Officer One (ADO1) Osafo Gyasi, Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, disclosed this in an interview on Brunch Café with Kelly on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
He urged residents to take fire prevention seriously by equipping their homes, shops, offices and other facilities with essential fire-safety equipment, including functional fire extinguishers and smoke detectors.
ADO1 Gyasi stressed the need for residents to remain vigilant and adopt preventive measures, especially given the current situation with the Municipality’s fire tender.
He also encouraged the public to report fire incidents promptly and avoid activities that could result in preventable fires.
The GNFS continues to emphasise that fire safety is a shared responsibility, urging residents to take proactive measures to protect lives and property.
For residents of the Upper Denkyira East Municipality, the Service’s message is clear: prevention must come before an emergency.
