The Member of Parliament (MP) for Twifo Atti-Morkwa in the Central Region, Mr Theophilus T.D. Vondee, has cautioned newly admitted Senior High School (SHS) students to be mindful of the friends they keep as they begin their secondary education.
He said negative peer influence could distract students from their studies and jeopardise their future, urging them to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their education.
Mr Vondee gave the advice when he presented mattresses and trunks to newly admitted SHS students in the constituency as part of efforts to support their transition into secondary school.
He urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and uphold the values instilled in them by their parents and guardians.
The MP reminded the students that their time in school should be devoted to acquiring the knowledge, skills and discipline needed to prepare them for the future.
Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Mr Isaac Yawson, reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning in the district.
He said the Assembly would continue to work towards improving conditions in the education sector and providing students with the necessary support to achieve improved academic outcomes.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the MP and the DCE for the intervention, saying the items would provide much-needed relief to their families as they prepared to begin their SHS education.
