A 30-year-old man, identified as Bismark Amoh, has reportedly been kidnapped in the Assin Fosu area of the Central Region, with his family appealing for urgent intervention to secure his safe release.
Bismark was allegedly abducted on Sunday, September 6, 2026, after which the suspected kidnappers reportedly demanded GH¢45,000 ransom and gave the family a 24-hour deadline. The family later received audio and video recordings allegedly showing Bismark tied with ropes around his hands, legs and neck and being assaulted.
In one of the recordings, Bismark is heard crying and pleading with his family to raise the money for his release. The family reportedly raised GH¢19,500 and paid it to the suspects, who subsequently demanded an additional GH¢30,500, bringing the latest ransom demand to GH¢49,500.
The suspects are also said to have issued another eight-hour ultimatum, allegedly threatening to kill Bismark, burn his body and destroy his phones if the additional money was not paid.
The family has reported the incident to the Cybercrime Unit of the Central North Regional Police Command and appealed to the police to urgently locate Bismark and secure his safe release.
Meanwhile, one of the recordings has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the reported abduction, as a woman’s voice is heard accusing Bismark of defrauding people allegedly connected to his detention.
However, the identity of the woman, the persons she referred to and any possible link between the alleged fraud and the reported kidnapping have not been independently established.
The Central North Regional Police Command has confirmed receipt of the report and said it was working with the National CID and the Cyber Unit at Police Headquarters to track down the perpetrators and secure the victim’s safe recovery.
The police have appealed to anyone with credible information on Bismark’s whereabouts to contact the authorities.
