A sod-cutting ceremony has been held for the construction of a four-storey dormitory facility at Atti-Morkwa Senior High School in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District to address accommodation challenges facing the school.
The project, expected to be completed within 12 months, comprises four dormitory blocks, with two designated for male students and two for female students.
Speaking at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Mr Isaac Yawson, said the project formed part of efforts to provide students with a conducive learning environment through improved educational infrastructure.
He said quality education required adequate facilities and decent accommodation, adding that the new dormitory would enhance students’ welfare, promote effective teaching and learning, and improve academic performance.
Mr David T.D. Vondee, Member of Parliament for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, said the project reflected the government’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and expanding access to quality education.
He urged residents to support ongoing development initiatives in the district, saying the projects being undertaken across the country demonstrated government’s resolve to honour its development commitments.
Nana Osiadeɛyo Kwesi Kwanin IV, Chief of Morkwa, welcomed the commencement of the project but stressed the need for quality workmanship.
He appealed to the project consultant to ensure effective supervision throughout the construction period and urged the contractor to complete the project within the stipulated 12-month timeframe to enable students to benefit from the facility as scheduled.
