Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, the Minister for the Interior, has urged applicants who were unsuccessful in the ongoing security services recruitment exercise to remain patient, assuring them that more opportunities would be created as the economy improves.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, the Minister acknowledged the disappointment many young applicants may feel after failing to secure a place in the recruitment process.
He explained that the limited number of vacancies within the security services restricts the number of recruits that can be admitted at any given time.
“I know a lot of young people may be disappointed, but they should exercise restraint. This is not going to be the first and last recruitment that the government is going to be having,” he said.
Mr Muntaka said the Government remained committed to expanding recruitment into the security services when economic conditions improve to allow for the intake of more personnel.
He added that John Dramani Mahama, the President of Ghana, had reiterated the Government’s intention to create more opportunities for young people as the national economy stabilises.
“We are going to make sure that, as His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has said, as the economy improves, many more will be taken into the security service,” the Minister added.
