Police in Assin Fosu are investigating two separate incidents involving the deaths of a teacher and a farmer within the municipality.
In the first incident, a 38-year-old teacher at Faith Academy Basic School in Assin Dompim, identified as Emmanuel Kofi Quainoo, was found dead at his residence under circumstances authorities describe as suspected suicide.
According to sources at the school, the deceased had recently resumed work after a period of absence. He reportedly left the campus around midday, informing colleagues that he was unwell and needed medical attention.
Later that day, family members found him unresponsive at his home. The matter was subsequently reported to the police, who have commenced investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a related development, a 43-year-old farmer, identified as Ato Kwamena, is also reported to have died in what is being described as a suspected self-inflicted incident at Assin Betinsinso, within the Assin Fosu Municipality.
Relatives said the deceased contacted a family member shortly after the incident, indicating that he needed urgent assistance. He was rushed to a nearby health facility but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have confirmed that both cases are under active investigation.
The incidents have sparked renewed conversations about mental health awareness and the importance of seeking timely support during emotional or psychological distress.
