Mr. Samuel Ato Aggrey, General Secretary of the Food and Beverages Association of Ghana (FBAG), has welcomed the 2026 budget presented to Parliament on yesterday. He shared his views in an exclusive interview with Mr. Enoch Otoo on National Agenda on DenkyiraMan Radio.

Mr. Aggrey praised the government’s planned expansion of the health and education sectors and commended the decision to scrap the COVID-19 levy. He further recommended a reduction in VAT and a broader tax net to boost revenue without overburdening existing taxpayers. He also urged increased local processing of export products to reduce imports, particularly poultry.

He appealed for better support for farmers, including affordable poultry feed and reduced electricity costs, to strengthen the agriculture and food processing value chain.

Describing the 2026 budget as “transformational,” Mr. Aggrey rated it 80%, but emphasized that high borrowing costs must be addressed for the initiatives to succeed.
