The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially scheduled its presidential primaries for January 31, 2026, to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, announced that a planning committee has been formed to oversee the process as part of ongoing constitutional reforms within the party.

The decision was taken by the National Council, the party’s highest decision-making body between national conferences, removing the need for further endorsement from the National Delegates Conference.

In addition, a nine-member committee chaired by former Bekwai MP, Joseph Osei-Owusu, has been tasked with organizing the next National Delegates Conference in July 2025. The conference is expected to deliberate on key proposals aimed at strengthening the party’s internal democracy and electoral framework.
