The Minister for Communications, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has announced that telecom companies will introduce changes to their data bundles effective July 2025.
According to the Minister, the adjustments are as follows:
- AirtelTigo Ghana will increase all data bundles by 10%.
- Telecel will also boost its data offerings by 10%.
- MTN Ghana will implement a 15% increase across all data bundles.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, April 10, Hon. George clarified that he does not have the authority to unilaterally direct telecom operators to reduce data prices. Instead, he emphasized a collaborative, engagement-led approach to addressing consumer concerns.
“The recovery of eight years of mismanagement cannot be completed in four months,” the Minister stated, acknowledging the challenges in the sector.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working with stakeholders to achieve fair and sustainable outcomes for consumers, saying, “I’m committed to an engagement-led style of leadership.”
