The New Force Movement has suspended Adu Acheampong, a member of its presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako’s private security team, following a viral video showing him assaulting an individual at a funeral event.
Acheampong, also known as “Seven,” was captured on video punching a man who attempted to approach Bediako during the burial rites of the late Mamponghene and Krontihene of Asanteman, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, on June 7, 2025.
In a press release signed by General Secretary Charles Yomekpe, the New Force leadership acknowledged that Acheampong used “unjustifiable force” against a supporter merely trying to engage with the presidential candidate.
The Movement described the incident as “regrettable” and announced a full internal investigation. Acheampong has been suspended pending the outcome.
He has also been enrolled in an anger management program and has offered an unqualified apology to the victim.
The New Force Movement reiterated its commitment to respect, open engagement, and peaceful democratic participation.
The incident has raised broader concerns about the conduct of political security personnel and the importance of maintaining a respectful atmosphere in public settings.
