A 50-year-old man, Samuel Kwame Afezei, has died after being electrocuted while working on a building located near high-tension power lines in Twifo Praso Zongo in the Central Region.

The Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Richmond Banny, had earlier raised concerns about the safety risks associated with the building’s proximity to high-voltage wires and equipment.

He reportedly alerted management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the district engineer about the potential danger the site posed to workers and residents.

Despite these warnings, construction continued allegedly due to the store owner’s political connections.

The tragic incident has sparked fear among tenants in the area, and allegations of bribery have since surfaced.

In the aftermath, Hon. Richmond Banny is calling on the District Chief Executive to intervene and implement immediate safety measures to prevent further tragedies and protect both workers and residents.
