The National Coordinator for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has issued a stern ultimatum to the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, demanding that he present the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) by 10:00 a.m. today, April 10.

Vanderpuye warned that failure to comply would result in security forces forcibly removing Rev. Fordjour from his residence.

The tension follows an aborted operation on Wednesday, during which NIB operatives stormed Rev. Fordjour’s Spintex residence in an attempt to arrest him. The arrest is reportedly linked to allegations he made about two suspicious aircraft that landed at Kotoka International Airport—claims hinting at possible drug trafficking and money laundering. The operation was unexpectedly called off without an official explanation.

According to Vanderpuye, the operation was halted following an appeal from Afenyo-Markin, who assured National Security that he would personally ensure Rev. Fordjour appeared for questioning by 10:00 a.m. today.

He stressed that the Minority Leader had previously agreed with government officials to cooperate with National Security in such matters, including the voluntary presentation of caucus members when needed.

Vanderpuye also condemned the actions of several Minority MPs who reportedly gathered at Rev. Fordjour’s residence to resist the arrest, describing their conduct as “unruly, uncalled for, and a total disrespect to the security services.”

“Talking of the warrant, a police officer can effect an arrest without one,” Vanderpuye added. “If the Minority Leader does not present him today, we shall plug him from his house.”
