The Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs, Okudzeto Ablakwa says his will modernize Ghana’s passport application process through the use of technology.
During his vetting before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee today, Ablakwah proposed reforms aim to streamline the system, making it more accessible and efficient for Ghanaians.

The minister-designate highlighted the potential to allow Ghanaians with a Ghana Card to apply for passports from the comfort of their homes.

According to him, this shift would eliminate the need for individuals to physically visit passport application centers, which has often been criticized for being time-consuming and prone to unnecessary delays.

“I’ll use technology to reform our passport regime. I’ll engage the ministry of communication to prevent people from intruding into our passport application center if you have Ghana card. You should be able to apply for a passport from the comfort of your home. The outmoded way of visiting the office for your passport will be ended. We can leverage courier services to deliver passports”.
