The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, says the report by the Mike Oquaye-led committee has brought closure to internal discussions surrounding the party’s electoral loss.
Dr. Bawumia noted that the report sets the record straight by dispelling misinformation and lifting the cloud of blame that hovered over some members of the party.
“The committee’s work has laid all doubts to rest, revealing the truth about our electoral defeat. It has put to bed all the propaganda and mischief that followed. The truth is now clear to every committed party member and every Ghanaian who wants to understand what truly happened,” he stated.
Following the NPP’s loss in the December 2024 general elections, a committee chaired by former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye, was tasked with reviewing the party’s performance and recommending the way forward.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of embracing the committee’s findings for the sake of party unity and future success.
“Let’s focus on learning from our mistakes and rebuilding with courage and honesty. The NPP has always bounced back—and we’ll do so again,” he said.
He also praised the hard work of campaign teams and supporters, assuring them their efforts were not in vain.
“Our Thank You Tour is about expressing gratitude and reaffirming our commitment to serving and transforming the lives of Ghanaians,” he added.
