Joseph Mensah Abekah, Deputy Central Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a stern warning to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), threatening to stage a solo protest if the ongoing power outages persist.
In an interview with the media Mr. Abekah expressed deep frustration over the persistent electricity disruptions, alleging that some ECG employees may be deliberately sabotaging efforts by former President John Dramani Mahama.
According to him, President Mahama had successfully resolved the power crisis before leaving office in 2016, and the current situation appears to be an attempt to undermine his legacy.
“If these unnecessary power outages continue, I’ll have no choice but to stage a solo protest against ECG,” he stated.
Mr. Abekah added that many NDC members are growing weary of constantly defending what they perceive as a politically orchestrated issue.
He also urged President Mahama to consider dismissing ECG staff allegedly recruited under the NPP administration, whom he suspects are contributing to the recent power challenges.
