Emmanuel Donkoh, a 61-year-old blind man from Twifo Praso Kokoase in the Central Region, is seeking help after being ostracized by his community since losing his sight in 2017.
His situation has become increasingly desperate as he carries the huge responsibility of caring for his five children. Mr. Donkoh struggles to meet their essential needs, including education.
Unfortunately, he is no longer invited to social gatherings, and many people refuse to visit him or offer assistance. This isolation has taken a significant toll on both his mental and physical health.
His 19-year-old daughter, Felicia Apau, has stepped up to care for her father. However, she too has faced exploitation, as some individuals have attempted to take advantage of her situation in exchange for assistance.
Felicia has reported several instances of harassment to her father, and at one point, a friend even intervened to dissuade her from contemplating suicide.
Felicia is now appealing to Ghanaians and organizations to support her father and their family, as she hopes to establish a small business to care for him and her younger siblings. Through various media platforms, she is seeking help to overcome their challenges and regain their dignity.
The family’s situation is urgent, and they are in desperate need of support. Felicia is calling on anyone who can assist them to come forward. She believes that with the right support, her father can overcome his challenges and live a fulfilling life despite his blindness.
In a recent interview, Felicia expressed her gratitude to those who have already offered assistance, emphasizing that every little bit counts. She remains hopeful that their story will touch the hearts of many.
