Ahafo Ano South-West: Angry NDC youth destroy party assets over parliamentary results

A group of angry youth from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Mankranso, located in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region, vandalized their party’s district office to express their outrage over the recent parliamentary election results.

This is not the first instance of NDC supporters protesting election outcomes; previously, in Kumasi, they took to the streets, burning tires and clashing with security personnel.

Additionally, some NDC supporters have vandalized the Electoral Commission (EC) office in the Ashanti Region, highlighting the deep frustration among party members.

During their protest, the youth set fire to various party properties, including a television set and chairs, and damaged other valuable items at the district office. Their actions stem from their dissatisfaction with how party leadership is handling the parliamentary election results.

The aggrieved youth claim that their preferred candidate, Mr. Abubakar Sadick, rightfully won the parliamentary election. They accuse the party’s national, regional, and constituency executives of conspiring to hand the seat to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate.

In a heated demonstration, the youth issued threats against party executives, warning that they would physically attack any national, regional, or constituency officials who visited the area. They further cautioned constituency executives to stay away from Mankranso or risk being harmed.

The situation has created significant tension within the NDC in the district, and party leadership has yet to provide an official response to the matter.
