The Union Social Club will mark its 25th anniversary with a public lecture on the theme, “Brotherhood and Nationhood: Social Clubs in Ghana’s Development,” on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Accra City Hotel.
The lecture, scheduled for 4:00 p.m., forms part of activities commemorating 25 years of fellowship, service and social impact by the Club.
It will bring together members, dignitaries and the general public to reflect on the role of social clubs and voluntary associations in Ghana’s civic and national development.
Emeritus Professor Ivan Addae-Mensah, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, will chair the programme.
Professor Addae-Mensah, a distinguished Professor of Chemistry, is a Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences and a recipient of the Companion of the Order of the Volta (COV).
The keynote address will be delivered by Lawyer Ace Anan Ankomah, Senior Partner at Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah (BELA) and a member of The Union.
Lawyer Ankomah has more than three decades of experience in dispute resolution, arbitration and corporate governance and previously served as a Senior Lecturer at the Ghana School of Law.
Dr Isaac Adupong, President of The Union Social Club, said the anniversary was an opportunity to reflect on the Club’s journey and its contribution to society.
“Twenty-five years ago, a small circle of friendship was formed on the belief that brotherhood could outlast any season. Today, that same brotherhood stands as a reminder of what is possible when men commit not only to each other, but to the nation we all serve,” he said.
Dr Adupong said the public lecture was intended to honour the Club’s journey while encouraging members to focus on creating lasting impact.
He said the true measure of any fellowship was not merely how long it lasted, but the positive impact it left behind.
The lecture will also examine how voluntary associations and social clubs could contribute meaningfully to national development, in line with The Union Social Club’s guiding philosophy of friendship and impact.
Members of the media, partners and the general public have been invited to attend the event.
