Assistant coach Desmond Offei will take charge of the Black Stars for Saturday’s international friendly against Mexico in Puebla after head coach Carlos Queiroz was ruled out for personal reasons.
Assistant coach Roger De Sa will also miss the encounter, leaving Offei to lead the team for the high-profile fixture as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Offei will be supported by goalkeepers’ trainer Daniel Gaspar and set-piece coach and video analyst Gregory De Grauwe.
A total of 22 players are currently in camp for the friendly, which forms part of Ghana’s build-up to the expanded 48-team World Cup.
The Black Stars are scheduled to play additional friendlies against Wales on June 2 and Jamaica on June 10 as part of their preparations.
Queiroz, who has stressed that only “deserving players” will be selected, is expected to submit his final squad for the tournament by June 1.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama, and will be aiming to reach the knockout stage for the first time since the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
