The Municipal Chief Executive for Upper Denkyira East, George Anane Coleman, has commended stakeholders in the municipality for their contributions towards its development.
He said the progress recorded in the area would not have been possible without the collective support of key stakeholders, including the security services, religious leaders, traditional authorities, parents and teachers, assembly members, and other members of the community.
Mr Coleman made the remarks during the celebration of the 69th Ghana Independence Day held on March 6, 2026, in the municipality.
He particularly praised personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service for their swift response to distress calls and their efforts in saving lives and property from destruction during fire outbreaks.
The MCE noted that the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by the fire service and other security agencies continued to play a crucial role in maintaining safety and protecting residents.
Addressing students at the event, Mr Coleman advised them to use their education as a tool to contribute to the development of the municipality and the nation as a whole.
Describing the students as the future leaders of the country, he urged them to dream big, work hard, and remain patriotic.
He noted that although Ghana had made significant progress in areas such as democracy, infrastructure, education, and governance, challenges including unemployment, sanitation issues, economic pressures, and environmental degradation still persisted.
Mr Coleman therefore called for renewed commitment to national unity, tolerance among citizens, rejection of violence, and the promotion of peace in communities.
He emphasised that the future and destiny of the municipality, as well as that of the nation, lay in the hands of its citizens and could only be achieved through shared responsibility, commitment, and sacrifice from all.
