The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been granted bail by the court in the sum of GH¢50,000 with one surety, not subject to justification.

Abronye’s lead counsel, Daniel Mantey Addo, described the ruling as a major relief, noting that his client’s health has recently deteriorated. The legal team has since begun the process of fulfilling the bail requirements to secure his release.

Police linked his arrest to public remarks in which he allegedly made provocative accusations against the Inspector General of Police and the governing party, comments authorities feared could be destabilizing. Before his detention, Abronye had filed asylum applications in eight countries Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, and Germany citing political persecution, threats to his life, and what he termed the misuse of state security institutions by the current administration.
