The Assembly Member for Aggrey Road/Brumasi Electoral Area in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region, Hon. Yaw Ayensu Elvis, popularly known as Sir More Time, has enrolled more than 340 residents onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) at no cost. The initiative is aimed at enhancing access to quality healthcare within the community.
The exercise, undertaken in partnership with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), focused on vulnerable groups including the elderly, children, women, and low-income earners who often struggle to afford registration fees.
Speaking during the program, Hon. Ayensu emphasized that access to healthcare is a basic right and pledged to continue championing initiatives that bring direct benefits to his constituents.
He further disclosed that his office will soon introduce another intervention to support residents who are yet to acquire their Ghana Cards, which remain critical for identification and access to government services.
Several beneficiaries expressed their appreciation, describing the intervention as timely and impactful. They noted that without this initiative, many families would have faced difficulties in registering for NHIS. They also welcomed the Assembly Member’s pledge to assist with Ghana Card registration.
The gesture has since received wide commendation from community leaders and residents, who have called on other political and civic leaders to emulate Hon. Ayensu’s example in prioritizing the welfare of their people.
