At the solemn state funeral on Friday, August 15, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) paid glowing tribute to the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, describing him as a man of courage and vision whose service went far beyond politics.

Speaking on behalf of the party, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey recalled Dr. Boamah’s fearless nature and praised his dedication to the progress of both the NDC and the nation.

Dr. Boamah was one of eight Ghanaians who tragically lost their lives in the military helicopter crash that occurred on August 6 in the Ashanti Region.

Others who perished in the accident included Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; former Obuasi East parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye; NDC National Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong; and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.

The crash also claimed the lives of three Air Force personnel: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
