Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed deep shock and sadness over the sudden passing of Ernest Yaw Kumi, the Member of Parliament for Akwatia.
During a visit to the bereaved family on Tuesday, July 8, Dr. Bawumia described the late MP as a loyal supporter and a personal friend.
“We were shocked to hear the news while at a NEC meeting yesterday,” Dr. Bawumia said, visibly emotional.
“Ernest was more than just a colleague; he was a friend who always stood by me especially during his election as MP for Akwatia.”
Recalling their last encounter, Dr. Bawumia shared, “We had a good chat at my house on Friday, and there was no sign that he was unwell.”
He offered heartfelt condolences to the family and pledged his full support throughout their time of mourning.
“We’re here to commiserate with you as a family,” he said. “Whatever decision you take regarding the burial, do not exclude me.”
