NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been released from EOCO custody after meeting the bail conditions.
Reports indicate that former Agriculture Minister, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, used his personal assets to secure the GH₵50 million bail required for Wontumi’s release.
The process faced temporary delays due to a last-minute bail variation application filed by his lawyer, Gary Nimako Marfo, which stalled the document verification process. However, the issue was later resolved, clearing the way for his release.
Chairman Wontumi was granted bail with two sureties to be justified, and Dr. Acheampong’s intervention appears to have been instrumental in meeting this condition.
With his release, Wontumi is now expected to assist with ongoing investigations from home and make himself available to authorities when required.
