Speaker Alban Bagbin has suspended the special committee’s investigation into the ministerial vetting chaos, directing them to halt their proceedings until further notice.
Committee chairman Emmanuel Bedzrah announced this decision during Gifty Jiagge-Gobah’s testimony, in which she was the target of a verbal outburst from Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
“The clerk of Parliament has instructed us to suspend the sitting until further notice. I want everyone to understand that it is not the committee’s decision to stop; rather, the Clerk of Parliament of Ghana has requested this suspension until he receives further instructions from the Speaker. Therefore, we will discharge you,” he stated.
This announcement followed the appearances of several individuals before the ad hoc committee, including Bernard Ahiafor, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, Minister for Roads and Highways Kwame Governs Agbodza, Tourism Minister Dzifa Gomashie, Pru West MP Emmanuel Kofi Ntekuni, and Keta MP Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey.
