The New Patriotic Party’s Women Organizer for Upper Denkyira East Constituency, Mrs. Naomi Agyarko, affectionately called Mama Afia has called on parents to take keen interest in their wards under apprenticeship in the Constituency.
She believes that apprenticeship is an excellent way for young people to gain valuable skills and experience in a particular trade or profession.
According to the mother and women’s advocate, she believes making the needs of their children available will prevent them from becoming wayward and taking unlawful decisions which could jeopardize their entire lives.
Mama Afia said parents should not start what they can’t end,
“If you can’t afford the full cost of training your children to complete an apprenticeship and have a skill at the end, it’s best he or she doesn’t start at all. A lot of the children especially girls will engage themselves in all kinds of wayward behaviours just to earn money for welfare purposes”.
Mrs Naomi advised children who also have the support and means from their parents to enrol in the apprenticeship process, to pay attention and focus on what they need to learn other than following friends and engaging in wayward lifestyles.
