An Immigration Officer has died in a motorbike crash at Assin Fosu in the Central Region, while a police officer of the Central North Regional Police Command is in critical condition.
The deceased, identified as Amoakoh, popularly known as Ahuoden, was reportedly riding as a pillion passenger on the motorbike, which was being ridden by the police officer.
The two were reportedly travelling from Finest Pup towards the Assin Fosu Main Lorry Station when the motorbike veered off the road and crashed.
Passersby who witnessed the accident rushed to their aid and conveyed them to a health facility. However, Amoakoh was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police officer, who reportedly sustained fractures to his left arm and left leg, remains on admission and is receiving medical treatment.
Personnel from the Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) visited the scene, retrieved the damaged motorbike for examination and commenced investigations into the cause of the crash.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the morgue pending further procedures.
