The President of the Denkyira Development Association (DDA), Mr. Lokko Bannor, has made a passionate appeal to government to urgently rehabilitate major roads within the Denkyira enclave to improve transportation, trade and economic activities.
According to Mr. Bannor, critical road networks including the Twifo Praso–Asikuma–Dunkwa Road, the Twifo Praso–Kyekyewere–Dunkwa Road, and the Dunkwa–Ayanfuri Road have deteriorated significantly, causing serious challenges for residents, commuters and businesses.
Speaking at the 4th Akwasidae Celebration held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Jukwa, the traditional capital of the Denkyira State, Mr. Bannor noted that the roads serve as vital links between the northern part of the Central Region and neighbouring regions such as Ashanti, Western, Western North and Ahafo.
He stressed that large quantities of food crops, cocoa, timber and other economic resources are transported through these corridors, making their rehabilitation crucial to regional and national development.
Mr. Bannor expressed concern that some of the road projects were initiated years ago but appear to have been abandoned, leaving motorists and traders to contend with poor road conditions that increase travel time and transportation costs.
He further emphasized that the roads are important in connecting both Upper and Lower Denkyira to other parts of the country and therefore deserve urgent government attention.
The DDA President called on the government and relevant authorities to prioritize the completion and rehabilitation of the roads to enhance economic growth and improve the living conditions of people in the area.
