The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira West, Hon. Rudolf Amoako Gyampah, has blamed the postponement of Parliament’s sitting on the government’s inability to release necessary funds.

This comes after the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, announced a delay in the start of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament, citing financial constraints.

Speaking on Denkyiraman Radio’s National Agenda programme, Hon. Gyampah expressed disappointment over what he called the government’s poor fiscal management, which he said has negatively affected various sectors, including the Free SHS Secretariat and health services.

“It is not surprising that junior doctors, nurses, and midwives have gone unpaid for nearly ten months,” he said, adding that the delay in releasing funds has also disrupted the smooth functioning of several government institutions.

He called on the government to “sit up” and take urgent action to resolve the country’s deepening financial crisis.
