Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has extended his condolences and support to traders affected by the devastating fire that ravaged Adum, Kumasi’s Central Business District. Touring the fire-ravaged area on Tuesday, March 25, Dr. Bawumia described the incident as “deeply unfortunate” and reassured the victims of his commitment to assisting them in their recovery. He was accompanied by former government officials and senior members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who also offered their sympathies and words of encouragement to the traders.

As part of his relief efforts, Dr. Bawumia donated GH¢200,000 along with 1,000 bags of cement to help the affected traders rebuild their businesses and properties. He emphasized the urgency of immediate relief measures and called on authorities to implement preventive strategies to avoid such disasters in the future. “This contribution is a modest gesture to aid in your recovery,” he stated. “Rest assured, I will remain committed to supporting you in every way possible as you rebuild and move forward.”

The traders, overwhelmed with gratitude, praised Dr. Bawumia’s generosity, stating that the financial support and building materials would be a lifeline in their efforts to restore their livelihoods. “This act of kindness has given us a glimmer of hope,” one shop owner said emotionally. “It reminds us that we’re not alone in our struggles.” Many affected traders expressed optimism that with such assistance, they could begin the process of rebuilding their businesses and moving forward after the tragic incident.
