A 26-year-old farmer, Yaw Nimoah, is in the custody of the Dambai Police Command after being arrested for allegedly killing his mother, Salomey Ama Serwaa, a 60-year-old woman, with a pestle in Yabram, a suburb of Dambai, the capital of the Oti Region.

Philip Kwadwo Bidaba, the assembly member for the Kwame-Akura East Electoral Area, reported that Nimoah has a history of threatening his mother with a cutlass on several occasions. He noted that the suspect’s behavior had raised concerns in the community, as he had previously threatened a neighbor with a cutlass, which resulted in his arrest; he was later released.

Mr. Bidaba received a distress call from a good Samaritan who witnessed Nimoah shouting for help, claiming that someone had harmed his mother. Upon arriving at the scene with the Unit Committee Chairman, they found Salomey lying in a pool of blood on a mat with severe head injuries.

“I immediately called the police and reported the incident. The police arrived promptly, arrested the suspect, and later returned to collect the body, which was then taken to the morgue of the WoraWora Government Hospital for preservation,” Mr. Bidaba stated.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and Yaw Nimoah remains in custody.
