Salifu Amoako’s Son Sentenced for Causing Deaths in East Legon Crash

A teenager, the son of Salifu Amoako, has been sentenced to six months at the Senior Correctional Center for causing the deaths of two individuals in a tragic accident in East Legon.

The teenager was involved in a high-speed collision with another vehicle, resulting in the instant deaths of two teenage girls who were passengers in the other car. He was convicted of manslaughter.

Initially, the teenager pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter, negligent harm, dangerous driving, and driving without a license. However, he later changed his plea to guilty, which led to his conviction.

As part of his sentence, the court ordered the teenager to report to probation officers every two weeks. He has also been instructed to sign an undertaking to refrain from driving until he turns 18.

In a separate ruling, the teenager’s parents were fined 500 penalty units, equivalent to GHc 6,000, for their failure to supervise their son properly. They were also ordered to pay for damages caused in the accident, including a light pole that was valued at GHc 8,000.
