GNAT and Unions Walk Out of Key Labour Meeting Ahead of Planned Nationwide Strike

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and other unions have walked out from Organized Labour’s important meeting. The labour groups were supposed to discuss plans for a potential nationwide strike scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, October 10, 2024.

The strike was expected to pressure the government to act swiftly on labour demands, especially as illegal mining continues to present significant environmental challenges. However, government officials recently announced new measures to curb galamsey, which may have influenced Organized Labour’s decision.
