Barker-Vormawor Calls for Government Reshuffle to Tackle Complacency

Mr Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a Ghanaian lawyer and activist, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to reshuffle his government, arguing that signs of complacency are beginning to emerge within the administration less than a year after assuming office.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, June 24, Mr Barker-Vormawor said some ministers should be dismissed while certain deputy ministers who had distinguished themselves should be elevated to substantive ministerial positions. He urged the President to “shake up the system,” stressing that complacency was beginning to set in within the government.

The activist further contended that the administration’s widely publicised “reset” agenda had not yet brought about the level of transformation many supporters had anticipated following the National Democratic Congress’ return to power. He maintained that while some changes had been made, the governance system did not yet appear fully reset. Mr Barker-Vormawor, however, did not identify any specific ministers he believed should be removed or promoted.
