The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that 211,849 delegates will vote in its presidential primaries scheduled for Friday, January 31, 2026, at 333 polling centres across the country.
Polls will open at 7:00 am hours and close at 2:00 pm
Mr Joseph Osei-Owusu, Chairperson of the NPP Presidential Elections Committee, told journalists in Accra on Tuesday that the party had completed all logistical, administrative and security arrangements to ensure a credible and transparent exercise.
He said the Electoral Commission (EC) would oversee the entire process, including voting, counting, collation and declaration of results.
According to Mr Osei-Owusu, each constituency would have one voting centre, except where the number of delegates exceeded 1,000, in which case additional voting points were created within the same locality. This arrangement accounts for the 333 centres, including one at the party’s national headquarters in Accra.
He disclosed that two proposed centres were relocated following joint assessments by the party, the EC and constituency executives, a decision he said was unanimously endorsed by all five presidential aspirants.
On the voter register, Mr Osei-Owusu said an initial list of 213,617 delegates was subjected to validation, leading to the removal of 2,827 deceased persons and 653 individuals who had forfeited their party membership. This brought the final number of eligible delegates to 211,849.
He said results would be declared at polling centres, collated at regional centres, and the final nationwide results announced at the party’s headquarters in Accra.
