In a remarkable display of rehabilitation and second chances, five male inmates from the Kumasi Central Prisons are participating in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The inmates, aged between 20 and 25, are writing their exams at the Bantama examination center.
Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, visited the candidates during his tour of various BECE centers and expressed his delight at their participation.
“I am happy to see these inmates writing the BECE. It is a symbol of hope in their lives,” he said. He further assured them of support with registration fees for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), should they qualify.
The MCE also visited other examination centers, including Opoku Ware School, Adventist SHS, Asanteman SHS, and Serwaa Nyarko SHS. He encouraged all candidates to shun examination malpractice and focus on their future.
“Your destiny begins today. Take these exams seriouslyit’s the key to your future,” he advised.
