Asake Opens Up on Ripping His Pants on Stage.

Nigerian Star Asake has opened up about what was going through his mind when he tore his pants during his three-day concert at O2 Brixton Academy in London in 2022.

While giving an energetic performance of his

“Tiwa Savage -featured hit jam-Loaded”, his trousers ripped on stage.

When he realized this, the “lonely at the top “singer stylishly hopped backwards to exit the stage

In an interview with Billboard, he explained that he couldn’t explain how the wardrobe malfunction had occurred.

According to him, he was torn between stopping the show and improvising.

Despite the unexpected mishap, he chose to improvise, but cameras and videos capturing the incident soon surfaced online.

“I can’t even explain what happened. The only thing I could remember is that I tried to dance and the whole thing just ripped.

“The only thing in my head was ‘are you going to stop this show now? Are you going to make it obvious?’ I just had to improvise and keep jumping until I changed the trousers.

“At the end of the day, videos and cameras put me out there,” he said.

Asake also expressed his optimism and gratitude for his current position, believing that it signifies his potential for even greater accomplishments in the future.

“I seeing myself here shows me that I can be somewhere bigger than this. At home, I’m so sure everyone will be so proud of me because at the end of the day, they want to see happy; they want to see me succeed.

“Everybody at home is happy seeing me here trying to push the culture and be the best that I can be. “Speaking on the distinctions between his two albums, Asake said his debut album ‘Mr. Money with the Vibe’ was easy to make, given that it marked his entry into the world of music production.

However, when it came to his sophomore album, “Work of Art” he faced a different set of challenges.

He recognized the need to demonstrate growth and evolution in his craft.

“The first one was a bit easy because it’s the first one. But the second one, I need to put in more work and outgrow myself. Do something I’ve not done before. Trying to create more new things.

“Both albums are good for me. They both have their time. I was going through something when I did the first one, it came out good. The second one too came out good.”

He went on to reveal his desire to collaborate with American billionaire rapper, Kanye West.

According to Asake, he prefers working with artistes with whom he shares a genuine connection.

He explained that it’s important for him to genuinely like the person he collaborates with, not just for their musical prowess but also for their personality and energy.

“For me, I need to like the person before I can make music with you. I need to be comfortable with you. Not even because of the music alone.

“I’m not saying I can’t make music with other people but I like real energy. If you like me beyond the music, it’s good.

“But I need to connect with your music, I need to like the person I want to work with first so it won’t be a problem for me. There must be synergy.

“I have been saying this thing since; maybe God will do it. I would like to work with Kanye [West].
