A fatal accident on the Accra-Kumasi Highway at Amanase in the Eastern Region has claimed 11 lives, with six others injured and receiving treatment at the Suhum Government Hospital.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 22 April.
According to reports, a fuel tanker with registration number GR-1300-15 collided with a Sprinter minivan registered GW-3565-10-23.
The tanker driver is believed to have dozed off behind the wheel, lost control of the vehicle, and veered into the lane of the Sprinter, resulting in the fatal collision.
Eyewitnesses reported that two females and nine males died on the spot, while six others sustained severe injuries.
Emergency personnel from the Suhum Ambulance Service and the Police quickly responded to the scene. They managed to extract the bodies from the wreckage, cutting through parts of the vehicles to reach the victims.
