The Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, has announced a 45% increase in the producer price of cocoa for the 2024/2025 crop season. This brings the price per bag of cocoa beans up from GH¢2,070 to GH¢3,000.
Minister Acheampong explained that at the beginning of the previous year’s season, a bag of 64kg of cocoa beans was sold at GH¢1,300 and was subsequently increased to GH¢2,070 when the spot price went up on the world market. The cumulative increase for the 2024/2025 season represents 129.6%.
He emphasized that the new price of GH¢3,000 relates to the previous announcement made at the beginning of the last season, and this represents a 45% increase for the 2024/2025 crop season.
