I’m Grateful- Dr. Festus Awuah Kwofie expresses appreciation to the people of Denkyira

The member of parliament for upper denkyira East Constituency, Dr. Festus Away Kwofie, has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Nananom, party members, the denkyira traditional Council, for their massive support during his vetting by the appointment committee of Parliament for the Position of Deputy Minister for Employment and Labor Relations.

The Deputy Minister for Employment and Labor Relations, Designate Hon. Dr. Festus Awuah Kwoffie was before the Vetting Committee in Parliament on Tuesday 12th March 2024, to be scrutinized for his new office in the Employment Sector.

Hon. Festus, in an interview with Denkyiraman Radio on 13th March 2024, also
expressed his deep gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for the honor bestowed on him.

Dr. Festus said he is humbled by the confidence reposed in him to serve in the capacity of deputy minister.

Answering questions on what the feeling was like before the committee, the honorable member “blew his whistle” about his preparedness towards the vetting process.

“Just like every one goes for an interview not knowing what the questions would be, As an already sitting member of the house,I read wide and made sure I wouldn’t fumble but deliver as expected of me”, he said.

The Law maker noted that he’s all ready and willing to take on the role as well as preparing to work hand in hand with the Minister to ensure that things are put in place in the sector.

He noted that the issue of 15 percent tax cuts used for Salaries in the country, is a key factor that the Ministry would look into and take a turn on.

Hon. Festus also pointed out that he’d work towards bridging the gap with thousands of youths with unemployment issues.

“Every Government desires to help the issue of unemployment, as they have the youths at heart, thus the implementation of many initiatives to help, but the government alone cannot take it upon themselves and do it all,” he added.

The honorable Member urged the private sectors in the country to help with absorbing more of the unemployed out of the system and help the government to bridge gap at last.

He explained that government implementation like the Youth Employment Agency and others was brought though to help with employment and he commends the sitting government for employing many youths in the security services but there’s more to do and his Ministry will ensure that.

Hon. Festus advised the youth to adopt skilled and technical jobs to also help get themselves handy instead of relying solely on government work.

He concluded that the Dunkwa Lorry Station which has been under construction for some time now and with certain exceptions is ongoing.
“The Dunkwa lorry park is a must-do project and it will happen. I entreat the Media to follow the process and come back in three months to witness the completion”, he added.
