GIFEC Commissions Rural Telephony Projects in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality.

The people of Zion No 2 a farming community, within the Upper Denkyira East Municipality has commended and expressed their gratitude to the Member of parliament, Hon. Dr. Festus Awuah kwoffie for fulfilling his promise of making availability of network services possible in the town.

Hon. Dr. Festus Awuah made this promise when he visited the community in 2022, he made sure network poles were mounted in the town to prove his words were not empty.

It is the wish of Hon. Dr. Festus Awuah to provide network coverage to all communities and provide an opportunity to connect people to their relatives and friends enabling these communities to be accessible for social, economic, health, and educational engagements not only in other parts of the country but also to the rest of the world.

The MP through the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) an agency of the Ministry of Communications of has been able to provide network coverage to eight communities within the upper denkyira East Constituency in the last few years.

The objective is to help promote digital inclusion and thereby, reduce the gap in the digital divide and also provide innovative solutions to access some of the remotest parts of Ghana.

On Wednesday 17th of January 2024, the people of Zion No 2 town were connected to the national grid and can now access all networks without interference.

This has brought so much joy to them as they sang praises to the “decision maker” Hon. Dr. Festus Awuah kwoffie.

In an exclusive interview with the host of National Agenda CJ on Denkyiraman Radio, a resident by name Mathew Addo, made the first call without any interruptions from the comfort of his home while he thanked the Honorable Member and explained how excited the whole town has become as the youth can now access the internet and learn new things.

Communities that have access to network coverage includes Pokukrom, Imbraim, Estate, Meretweso, Amoafo, Achieve, Buabin, etc.
